West Company is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), economic development organization providing one-on-one business counseling and workshops to targeted communities for economic and social empowerment. Its focus is on entrepreneurship, asset building, financial literacy and social responsibility. We support budding entrepreneurs and business owners throughout Mendocino County, CA. We provide advice to startups, governments, and financial institutions to build economic development programs that reduce poverty, and provide equal access to entrepreneurship resources that enable people to build thriving communities.
West Company hosts the Small Business Administration (SBA) Mendocino Small Business Development Center and Mendocino Women’s Business Center. We serve all of Mendocino County with two locations in Ukiah and Fort Bragg.
Our Business Assistance History
As the Women’s Economic Self Sufficiency Training Program, established in 1988, West Company prided itself in its expertise in assisting women business owners. In the efforts to expand our services to the entire community, West Company incorporated as a 501 (c)3, not for profit in 1991, as West Enterprise Center, which allowed services to be available to all who wished to start or grow their small business. During this time West Company focused on the needs of the emerging welfare-to-work and low income population. We are now able to offer our services to all, regardless of their income or gender.
